Creativity abounds at the Y

Members and non-members can explore and express their creative talents in a healthy and supportive environment for building new skills. Classes help children develop confidence and increased self-awareness as they participate in problem solving, critical thinking and attention to details.

Creative Rhythm and Rhyming
Ages 33 months-5 years

Preschoolers will explore creativity through music, movement, stories, and art. Children will listen to stories, move and dance to songs, while playing instruments. They will also create art that goes along with each theme. This program is instructed by our licensed child care teachers. 
Dates & Times: October 31-December 17 / 10-11am

Songwriting for Kids with Universal Music Center
Ages 7-12 years

When kids learn to read and write, they are ready to start learning to read and write music too! In this class, we give your child the tools and motivation. Each student will have the opportunity to write a song. These songs will be recorded and sent home with them at the end of the sessions. Benefits of this program include:

  • Kids learn to use music as a positive way of expressing emotions
  • Self-esteem is built as music skills improve and performance ability increases
  • Group interaction improves communication skills and empathy
  • Academic performance and problem solving skills are enhanced by music education
