Inspiring young leaders
Through our leadership programs, the Y strives to ensure that every young person has an opportunity to envision and pursue a positive future. Building a strong foundation in leadership early in life encourages youth to take an active role in strengthening their communities as adults. Participants in our leadership programs can expect to make new friends, find the support they need and gain the confidence to challenge themselves.
These hands-on experiences are designed to teach teens the skills, attributes and strategies that are important traits of exemplary leaders and counselors. Leadership skills learned at the Y can carry over to their schools, homes and communities.
Youth in Government (YIG) is a youth development program emphasizing the Y's four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All are welcome and financial assistance is available.
YMCA gym floors aren't just for basketball. They're also great for dancing, so call your friends and come bop to some tunes. Or, just hang out and listen.
In a small-group setting you'll learn how to use the wellness center equipment and see how to combine cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, and stretching exercises for a workout that's right for you. You will also learn gym etiquette, usage rules, and safety guidelines by one of our trained Wellness Center staff members.
