Mark Twain: Outloud
A YMCA Camp Pepin Scholarship Fundraiser
Sunday, October 15, 12 -2 p.m.
YMCA Camp Pepin | Stockholm, WI
Join us at YMCA Camp Pepin this fall to gaze out at the beauty of the Mississippi from the spacious indoor dining hall while listening to Mark Twain's stories about this mighty river - all for a good cause!
The YMCA Camp Pepin Scholarship Fundraiser event includes brunch and a 45-minute live performance of Mark Twain: Outloud. Adapted and performed by renowned local playwrights Jessica Zuehlke and Jim Stowell, and based on Mark Twain's book Life on the Mississippi, the performance first premiered at this past year's Big Turn Music Festival in Red Wing to a standing-room only crowd.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the Camp Pepin Scholarship Fund, which helps families be able to send their children to camp. Since 1935, the Red Wing YMCA's Camp Pepin has made a difference in the lives of kids and teens through its summer resident and day camps by fostering an atmosphere of inclusion, collaboration, and community. Few environments are as transformational as summer camp, and Camp Pepin wants to ensure that as many children as possible are able to experience their programming.
Cost: $50 per ticket. Includes brunch and performance. All proceeds benefit the Camp Pepin Scholarship Fund.

Wilderness First Responder Courses at Camp Pepin
May 2023
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.
5-Day Wilderness First Responder Full Certification Course
The Wilderness First Responder course is created to provide outdoor leaders and backcountry travelers with the core knowledge and skills necessary to deal with medical and traumatic emergencies in remote settings. It's the most useful first aid course of its kind and is the expected standard for trip leaders and guides by the outdoor industry. The certification is valid for three years. For complete curriculum details, please see the Wilderness Medical Associates International website.
3-Day WFR Recert
The Open Recertification course is open to graduates of any wilderness-based first aid training course that was at least 64 hours long and completed within 3 years of the proposed recertification option. Find full details on the Wilderness Medical Associates International website.
